Reading – Jack’s Presentation at School
Read the text carefully. You will need it for the next exercises.

Jack is a quiet student who never likes speaking in front of the class. Last Monday, his English teacher asked everyone to give a short presentation about their hobbies. Jack felt terrified the moment he heard this.

When it was Jack’s turn, he stood up slowly. His hands were shaking and he couldn’t look at anyone. He stared at the floor and spoke very quietly. His voice was so soft that the students at the back couldn’t hear him. The whole experience was exhausting for him.

In the middle of his talk, he forgot what to say next. He felt his face go red – he was completely embarrassed. Some students smiled at him kindly, which was encouraging. His teacher waited patiently and told him to take a deep breath.

After his presentation, Jack sat down and felt relieved. It was over! His teacher gave him positive feedback and said his topic was really interesting. Jack smiled – maybe next time it wouldn’t be so frightening after all.

Prezentacja Jacka w szkole

Hi Anna,

I have to tell you about something really stressful that happened to me on my holiday!

Last week, I got completely lost in a big city abroad. At first, I was really because everything was new and interesting. But after a while, I started feeling because I couldn’t find my hotel. The streets all looked the same, which was really .

I tried to use my phone, but the map was , and the battery was almost dead – so I felt even more . At one point, I was so and that I just sat down and didn’t know what to do. It was such an experience!

Luckily, I met a very kind local person. He showed me the way, and in the end, I felt so and grateful. Looking back, it was a bit , but also kind of in a strange way.

Have you ever had a similar experience while travelling?

Hej Anno,
